About the series: A door is never just a door, it is a question - is it an entrance or an exit? Does it keep us out or protect what is inside? Can we see what lies beyond, or do we first have to trust that another side exists? Every closed door seems to contain another life, another possibility. Some doors never open. Others do. Whenever one remains closed, I find myself looking for another: a crack, an alternative route, a different entrance. Somehow, there is always a way forward. I have come to think of a door as an optimistic object. It is not a wall. It separates, but it also connects. It marks an ending and a beginning at the same time. Even a locked door acknowledges that another space exists beyond it, whether we can reach it or not.
The doors in this work appear where they are least expected. They interrupt the familiar without offering an explanation. They simply suggest that other possibilities exist, questioning the certainty of the structures around us. If a door can appear where it is not supposed to be, perhaps the boundaries around and within us are not as fixed as we believe. I don't expect every door to open. Some remain locked. Some are left behind. Others only become visible once we stop looking for them. Perhaps that is what hope is: not the certainty that a door will open, but the refusal to believe that the one in front of us is the only one.
